Life at Semble: How We Created Semble’s Culture Code

At Semble, we believe that a strong culture is the backbone of any successful organisation. But what exactly makes our culture unique?  
This question led us to create Semble’s Culture Code—a set of guiding principles that reflect who we are and how we work together.
In this article, our VP of People, Yssine Matola, takes you through the journey of how our Semble’s Culture Code came to be, what it means to us, and how it continues to shape the way we innovate and amplify the impact of healthcare professionals. 

Back in the summer of 2022, during our annual Semble Day—a day where we bring the whole company together right before our Summer Party—we had a company-wide session about what makes working at Semble unique.  

All Semble employees shared their thoughts, and ta-da! I didn’t have much more work to do to put our cultural drivers together—some of it was even taken word for word! 

We decided that “values” didn’t quite capture the motivation and passion that bring us together. Beyond semantics, we found that: 

  • Our vision to shape the future of healthcare by making it more connected, and our mission to enable health professionals to amplify their impact, are strong unifiers that already carry a lot of shared purpose. 
  • We can’t really “force” anyone to adopt values that aren’t theirs, and unlike set values, driving forces have a dynamic nature. We can continuously revisit, discuss, and share them. 

So at Semble, we have driving forces, which we also call cultural drivers.

We enable health professionals to amplify their impact on their patients’ health, on their practice and on healthcare overall.

Semble is an inclusive and empowering environment where we share knowledge, care for and help others. 

We are building a more connected healthcare ecosystem for better patient outcomes.

We deeply care.

Our high levels of empathy and flexibility help us come together to best serve every user. 

We care personally, hold respect in high regard and always have healthcare professionals and the ecosystem’s best interest at heart. 

 

Companies establish values, or cultural drivers, to create a shared purpose and guide decision-making. They align team behaviours, foster a unified culture, and ensure everyone is working towards the same goals.

By defining what matters most, companies can attract like-minded talent and build customer trust while staying true to their core mission -which is paramount for us at Semble. 

As culture is alive and represents the way we work day-to-day, we review our Culture Code regularly to ensure it still reflects what we experience at Semble.

At least once a year, we bring together people of various tenures, seniority, and departments to take a broader view and ensure that Semble’s Culture Code is realistic rather than aspirational.

Our team’s diversity also plays a crucial role in defining our culture, bringing together a wide range of unique personalities, experiences and perspectives. Embracing this diversity helps us better understand our users, solve complex problems and drive innovation, which is at the core of our 'Collaboration' cultural driver.

Our Culture Code is more than just words on a page—it’s the foundation of everything we do at Semble. By staying true to these driving forces, we ensure that we’re not only achieving our mission but also growing in a way that’s authentic to who we are.
