Before transitioning to Semble, Murakami Medical Centre relied on Cliniko as their practice management system, which caused inefficiencies in daily operations. The team faced time-consuming manual processes for core tasks, such as handling prescriptions and blood test results.
“Cliniko was quite clunky – everything was manual. Prescriptions were emailed to pharmacies, and we didn’t always have their contact details, so we’d spend time getting in contact with them,” Murakami's Practice Manager, Juliana, said.
"We also had to download blood results, upload them into our system, and then manually share them with the patient. While each task only took a few minutes, collectively it really added up and pulled our admin staff away from more important work."

Their previous system's manual processes also exposed them to potential human errors in tasks ranging from patient bookings to prescription creation.
Murakami needed a system that could integrate key processes and reduce this risk of human error, such as incorrect bookings or typos in clinical data. Most importantly, they were looking for a platform that would continue evolving with their needs, making everyday tasks more efficient.

"Semble enables us to do our job both on the clinical and the admin side. It allows us to measure critical metrics required by CQC, like tracking prescriptions and generating audits. To be able to get those metrics, from a business point of view it’s very important," Juliana explained. "The system also enables us to customise consultation templates to ensure all necessary checks, like safeguarding issues, are completed before a patient visits. It makes everything very safe.”
As a clinic that offers both GP appointments and aesthetic services, automation became a cornerstone of Murakami’s operations. From appointment reminders to customised registration forms, Semble’s automation tools helped reduce the workload across the two specialities.
“Our aesthetics services require different pre-appointment information than GP visits, for example. Previously, it would have taken our receptionist much longer to handle this manually. Now, Semble does it all automatically, it’s amazing.
“If we were to do all of that manually, I would probably need to spend about 20 extra minutes per patient on average. Now we’re not having to manually add everyone’s details and send out communications ourselves – you can just click on a patient in Semble.”
Quick and easy lab results
One of the most significant improvements for Murakami has been with lab results. Thanks to Semble’s seamless integration with pathology labs, they can now deliver results to patients within 24 hours - a process that used to take far longer.
